Becoming an astronaut is solely based on your performance. The Academy is an engineering school, so I am assuming you want to be an engineer, whichever major you pursue, if you do well and then graduate and do well as an officer you can compete for the Astronaut program.

To be honest, my biggest interest in a career would be to become an astronaut with NASA. I read how two graduates from the USCGA became pilots, and am wondering if I manage to enter the school, what degree would be best to pursue?
    Thanks

like i said before i think all Branches do their part…i dont think one branch does more than the other……..I prefer the Navy or Marine Corps and im in the process of applying to the USNA. EVERYONE DOES THEIR PART.

@sedargo77 We have more pilots b percentage than the Air Force, and more pilots than people on boats. You can apply for flight school any time between graduation and 7 years after graduation.

if I went to uscga and wanted to be a pilot, do I have a good chance at getting a slot, in other words, do alot of other ppl that go their want to be pilots

That’s not true. We have a holistic review, so it depends on the rest of your file and the competition you are up against. A 2.5 in an IB program is very different than a 2.5 in a low track high school curriculum.
