Starkey even asserts that Elizabeth taught Henry to read and write and this is illustrated in the similar manner of handwriting endorsed by both. In his latest documentary on the life of Henry VIII, Starkey reiterates this point and provides primary material to indicate the impact Elizabeth played on her son’s upbringing. An example of Henry viii’s handwriting dating to his childhood can be seen at the current exhibit, “Vivat Rex!” at the Grolier Club, New York.
